New insights from Adikteev highlight cohort-specific strategies for sustainable retention in the mobile RMG market

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- 84% of VIP real-money gamers say weekly content updates are critical to their continued play, according to The 2025 Mobile RMG Player Survey from Adikteev, a leading app retargeting platform. Based on responses from 600 U.S.-based players across VIP, Core, and Casual segments, paired with qualitative insights from industry leaders at WorldWinner, Incline Gaming Marketing, and High 5 Games. Together, these perspectives reveal how fresh content, trust, and well-timed messaging drive long-term engagement in an increasingly competitive space.

With user acquisition costs rising and attention spans shrinking, real-money gaming (RMG) marketers are under pressure to evolve beyond generic retention tactics. Adikteev's report offers a cohort-level breakdown of acquisition, engagement, and monetization behaviors, along with actionable recommendations designed to increase player lifetime value.

Key Findings:

  • Players want payouts ASAP. Instant cash withdrawals significantly boost player satisfaction across all segments.
  • App store discovery is losing ground. For all player types, in-game ads and short-form video (e.g., TikTok, YouTube) now dominate as the primary discovery channels
  • Winning gameplay ads drive action. Among VIPs, gameplay-focused creative outperformed influencer or celebrity cameos by a wide margin.
  • Trust gaps kill installs. 57% of VIPs said app reviews mentioning payment issues would cause them to abandon an install.
  • Timing is everything. Core and Casual players are most active between 6–10 PM, while VIPs respond best to re-engagement pushes sent just after closing the app.

"These findings underscore the urgency of personalized, timely engagement," said Cameron Thom, Chief Revenue Officer of Adikteev. "Marketers equipped with detailed player behavior insights are best positioned to sustain engagement and maximize player lifetime value."

The report also outlines how personalized bonus structures, streamlined payouts, and trust-forward UX design can make or break player loyalty. Marketers are encouraged to adapt their retention and monetization strategies by player segment, focusing on momentum-building mechanics, instant rewards, and frictionless experiences.
