Bright Uro expands Board Leadership with addition of two Medtech and Urology Industry Veterans

PR Newswire

Joseph DeVivo and Ted Lamson, Ph.D. join Bright Uro's Board, bringing decades of medical device leadership, digital health innovation and urology device commercialization experience to guide the company's next phase of growth

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 8, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Bright Uro, Inc., the company transforming care for lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUTD) through innovations in urodynamics, today announced the addition of two accomplished medical device pioneers to its Board: Joseph DeVivo, President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Butterfly Network, will serve as a Board Director, and Ted Lamson, Ph.D., co-founder and co-inventor of the UroLift® System at NeoTract, will serve as a Strategic Advisor to the Board of Directors. The appointments come as Bright Uro accelerates commercialization of the Glean® Urodynamics System — the first wireless, catheter-free urodynamics platform to offer multi-channel studies — and continues development of Urodynamic Intelligence, its proprietary AI and machine learning platform for interpreting urodynamic data.

Bright Uro is ushering in a new era in bladder diagnostics with the Glean® Urodynamics System — the first wireless, catheter-free urodynamics platform to offer multi-channel studies.

Joseph DeVivo is President, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Butterfly Network, a pioneer and leader in semiconductor-based ultrasound, cloud software and AI. He brings 37 years of business leadership, including more than two decades in medical devices and nearly a decade in digital health. Over his career, DeVivo has acquired and integrated eight companies, led four business turnarounds, and delivered three company exits as CEO and two as Chairman. Prior to Butterfly Network, DeVivo led InTouch Health and Teladoc Health's Hospitals and Health Systems business, and previously chaired the board of Caption Health, an AI-guided ultrasound company. He has served on the AdvaMed Board for 15 years, including as Chairman of its Center for Digital Health.

Ted Lamson, Ph.D. is the co-founder and co-inventor of the UroLift® System, the minimally invasive BPH implant that became one of urology's most widely adopted device-based therapies. Lamson served as President and CEO of NeoTract, then as Chief Technical Officer, guiding UroLift through FDA clearance, reimbursement and a $1.1 billion acquisition by Teleflex Incorporated. He holds more than 100 patents and received the Endourological Society's Industry Award for Innovations in Endourological Instrumentation. Lamson currently serves as Special Advisor to multiple urology device companies including ProVerum and Calyxo.

Both appointees bring experience directly relevant to Bright Uro's mission and growth stage. DeVivo's track record scaling connected, software-enabled diagnostic and digital health platforms — including his leadership of an AI-guided ultrasound company — closely mirrors Bright Uro's work building Urodynamic Intelligence. Lamson's experience taking a novel urology device from concept through FDA clearance and a category-defining commercial exit speaks directly to the path Bright Uro is charting for the Glean Urodynamics System within the broader urology device landscape.

"Glean is doing for urodynamics what connected, data-driven platforms have done across the rest of medtech — replacing a cumbersome, artisanal process with something more streamlined, consistent, and built to scale. I've spent my career helping devices like this cross the gap from clinical promise to standard of care, and I see that same inflection point here."  — Joseph DeVivo

"UroLift taught me that even clinically transformative technologies only reach patients by building a solid path to adoption. Glean is tackling something urodynamics has lived with for decades — a test that's highly operator dependent and inconsistent because of the catheters and setup it requires. I'm looking forward to helping Bright Uro continue on the path to becoming the preferred modality for the field."  — Ted Lamson, Ph.D.

"I couldn't be more excited to work alongside and learn from Joe and Ted.  They each have taken a device from clinical insight to standard of care — Joe by scaling connected, AI-enabled platforms across health systems, and Ted by building UroLift into one of the most innovative and widely adopted therapies in urology. They've led at every stage of the journey, and their guidance will be invaluable as we rapidly accelerate commercial growth at Bright Uro."  — Derek Herrera, Founder and CEO, Bright Uro

The appointments come as Kurt Azarbarzin rejoins the Board, alongside current directors Jane Kiernan, Sofia Gerard and Derek Herrera.

About Glean

The Glean® Urodynamics System is a urodynamic analyzer system intended to quantify the pressure and flow characteristics of the lower urinary tract. Glean is the first and only method to perform wireless, catheter-free urodynamics — delivering more accurate data, quicker proficiency for clinical staff and a more dignified patient experience. The system can be used in adult patients to perform standard urodynamic tests such as uroflow, cystometrogram, urethral pressure profile and micturition studies to support diagnosis of conditions such as overactive bladder (OAB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)/lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS).
