50T Welcomes Michael Scott as Partner, Strengthening Leadership Team with Proven Credit Markets Expertise
Veteran Distressed Credit Investor Brings Two Decades of Experience and $1B+ AUM Track Record to Digital Asset Growth Equity Leader
NEW YORK, Aug. 28, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- 50T, the leading growth equity fund manager focused on the Digital Asset Ecosystem (DAE), today announced the appointment of Michael Scott as Partner. Michael brings over two decades of distinguished experience in leveraged credit markets and special situations investing, including his role as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Farmstead Capital Management, where he grew assets under management from inception to a peak of approximately $1 billion.
The appointment strengthens 50T's leadership team as the firm continues to capitalize on the rapid growth of the digital asset ecosystem following recent portfolio successes, including Deribit's acquisition by Coinbase, Circle's successful NYSE debut, and eToro's oversubscribed Nasdaq offering.
"Michael's extensive experience in credit markets and special situations investing, combined with his proven track record of building and scaling institutional investment platforms, makes him an ideal addition to our team," commented 50T Founder & CEO, Dan Tapiero. "His disciplined approach to downside protection and active governance aligns perfectly with our investment philosophy as we continue to identify and invest in the most promising growth-stage companies in the digital asset ecosystem."
Michael's appointment comes as 50T launches its new $500 million Fund V, a 10-year closed-end fund focused on growth equity investments, with a first close planned for Q4 2025. Prior to joining 50T, Scott served as a longtime limited partner in 50T Funds, providing him with deep familiarity with the firm's investment approach and portfolio companies.
"After 23 years navigating leveraged credit markets, I am excited to begin my next chapter at 50T, working alongside Dan Tapiero and his outstanding team," said Michael Scott. "Having been an LP in 50T for several years, I've seen firsthand the distinctive approach the team brings to investing in the digital asset ecosystem: identifying companies with real revenues, tangible use-cases, robust competitive moats, and explosive growth trajectories, all structured with deliberate focus on downside protection and active board engagement."
Michael co-founded Farmstead Capital Management, serving as Managing Partner and Head of Research. Under his leadership, Farmstead became a respected institutional investor in distressed credit, executing research-driven strategies across distressed, special situations and control-oriented private investments. Previously, he was a Partner and Senior Analyst at Venor Capital Management and began his career at JPMorgan in leveraged finance and distressed trading. He holds a B.S. in Accountancy, summa cum laude, from Bentley University.
"Digital assets are still in the early innings of a secular trend that will reshape global markets, one that will increasingly intersect with rapid advances in AI," added Michael. "I'm energized to dive deeper into this ecosystem and committed to delivering asymmetric returns for our investors."
